With too much homework kids start to give up and lose interest in learning. I believe this is a tragedy! This is the polar opposite of what schools are supposed to be accomplishing. All kids understand that some homework comes with going to school but with piles every night kids start to get discouraged. They start to slack on what is important because they feel they have done enough and don’t need to do any more. Bill B, a principle states, “The negative effects of homework are well known. They include children’s frustration and exhaustion, lack of time for other activities, and possible loss of interest in learning.” This is very important to think about because with lack of interest comes more failing grades.
There is too much homework for kids to do. Too much homework causes kids to lose interest, to get overwhelmed, and miss out on life experiences and other activities. Now, teachers think about what you are giving your students, ask your self, is it essential and how long will it take them? Parents monitor your kids and if they look like they are getting frustrated suggest they take a break. If the homework seems to be too much of a workload try talking to the teacher. Finally, students don’t get discouraged. If you have a question ask and if it is overwhelming try explaining that to your teacher. Stop too much homework, kids can learn just as well without so much! This is what I believe.
